Louise Sutton – Performance Nutritionist

With a background in clinical dietetics, Louise is Head of Sport and Exercise Nutrition at Leeds Beckett University. She has a particular interest in the practical application of sport dietetics in elite and extreme environments. Louise led the provision of nutrition support to the British Army in their preparations for their attempt to ascend the West Ridge of Everest in 2006, and their ski mountaineering attempt on Mount Shishapangma in 2007 and has worked with athletes undertaking polar and round the world sailing challenges.

She has over the past 20 years advised many elite sports professionals from a range of sports including athletics, cricket, football and rugby. She is currently lead consultant nutritionist to Leeds Rugby providing nutritional support to both Leeds Rhinos rugby league and Yorkshire Carnegie rugby union and to the national race walking squad based in Leeds.

Known for her very practical approach, Louise has extensive experience in delivering nutrition education programmes to support junior athlete development. She was recently awarded the British Dietetic Association Roll of Honour for her contribution to the development of the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register
